Discussion about
What are folks thoughts about that area of the city? Access to riverside park is awesome but am a bit concerned about basic services like supermarkets, bodegas, and dry cleaners. Thanks

The further south you go, the more isolated.

At the north end, e.g. at 240, you're just two crosstown blocks from the 72nd subway.

Going south, because Broadway angles away to the southeast, and because Lincoln Towers and the projects form impermeable streetwalls, it's a longer and longer uphill hike to get to the train and any street life.

There'll eventually be more stuff going on at the south end, near 59th, though.

Isn't this where all the Trump Towers Buildings are?

"considering a purchase in that building"

RUKUS,
I think you are going about this the wrong way. Instead of asking people about subway access and local stores, come by take a walk around including walking back and forth to the nearest subway station. Everyone will respond differently depending on how they shop , need for public transportation and personal preference to walking distances.

Riverside Boulevard can be enjoyed, if you first accept that it's Pavonia East, rather than a part of New York. That goes for its physical form and convenient proximity to New York, as well as for its populace.

ive been up there several times now and have walked around, including time to subway, broadway, etc.

was trying to get others' opinions as well since my experiences i am sure are day/time/weather dependent.

from my questions you can probably sense the results of my thoughts about the area from my own walk throughs though.

Much colder and windier than average in the winter. Pretty darn far from the subway when it snows or rains or is 100 degrees. The cross town bus does go there though. Depends on your daily commute a lot.

I do worry about lack of close by shops as well as distance to subway (probably more concerned about the 100 degree days than the 20 degree days). But the buildings themselves are all brand new and look it and I love the access to riverside park south and the pier being right there. Also like how quiet it seems get car traffic-wise (other than the white noise from the highway which 1. Isn't terrible compared to honking and squeaking of trucks on the major avenues downtown where I currently live in east village and 2 hopefully they bury the highway at some point like I've heard rumors about).

Also, I have a dog with a lot of energy (and hence long walks required), so I am concerned about the colder than average comments. I have only been to the area in the last 2 months or so, so not sure how I might feel come winter time....
