Discussion about
Weiner claws Red Lobster By SALLY GOLDENBERG Last Updated: 2:39 AM, June 4, 2013 Posted: 2:16 AM, June 4, 2013 http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/weiner_claws_red_lobster_NqFmdi5sP7BFLUC8baEI5O Anthony Weiner looked bored at a candidate’s forum last night — that is, until he took time out to attack, of all places, Red Lobster. As he blasted the city for creating only low-paying jobs and hurting... [more]

gratuitous statements by a desperate, pathetic career politician who is lost and awash in his own little world. going to try and ride any momentum as the champion of the middle and lower classes to become relevant again. so predictable these acts of desperation by a consummate loser. problem is, not a bad strategy in nyc....

Repeated by a serial repeater who very rarely adds anything of substance or even interest.

Why doesn't he just give in & do what he REALLY wants to do already: Play with himself on live network tv, broadcast on the Sony Jumbotron in Times Square for all his non-existant constituants to see.

Carrying it on the "zipper" would be quite apropo as well.

He really does look like an arrogant little pissant of an SOB.

I guess "Huma" is an acronym for "How'd U Marry Anthony?"

"Weiner told ... roughly 50 people... that the rising cost of living has rendered poor those making $45,000 or less in New York City."

It's not really clear if he's mocking those who make that amount, or if he's lamenting the fact that recent developments in the city have let these people down.

Surely economic times like these are not the ones in which to be looking down on people earning $45k or less. Never have the educational attainments and overall intelligence of this group of people been so high.

This is just out of Weiner's standard playbook, which Chuck gave him. Truth is NYC can do very little , short term, to create jobs other than providing tax incentives for companies to locate or expand here(which it does). The red lobster conversation is a national debate slogan, he knows it and just hopes the media picks up on it and that the average joe just remembers the slogan.

$45k is kind of poor here. Not enough to live decently even for one person anyway.

Maybe, but basically a red herring. A Mayor Weiner won't solve that issue.

I have to think that it's difficult to live a decent life in the city on $45k. My taxes, rent (very small studio), 401k, and student loan add up to $81,940. That said, I'm not sure what Anthony Weiner plans to do about it.

I don't think I've voted according to my simplistically-defined ecnomic self-interest (short-term) ever. I don't think it is in one's self-interest not to promote a number of state-based growth policies, such as education, r&d, and scientific and medical research that corporate interests have no interest in. Public/private persona/interests are pretty much one and the same for me.

Liberal politicians promote liberal policies that wreak havoc with this city and state, and then they point out how bad things are and promote more government and liberal policies to deal with the mess.

RF, they have in the past, and there are a few examples. The human genome project is one.

But my point was more directed at the fact that I haven't and won't express one set of beliefs and vote for another due to a belief that there will be individual (mine) gain. Maybe when I'm 80. But I doubt it.

Did LICC write something?

I was referring to the state in a larger sense, not just New York State. But I'm sure some people understood that, even if they don't agree.

Exactly. Most non-commies and non-Europeans just call it "the government."

Yes but what about the windfall you are taking from the lawsuit that really should be for the benefit of the people the NY State programs were intended to benefit?

HB, until you learn the history and rational for rent stabilization I fart in your general direction. Until very recently it wasn't generally tied to income.

There are numerous rent stabilization programs. Most of the recent direct beneficiaries of the programs have been the landlords. Your ignorance is only surpassed by your willful disregard of the facts, assuming you're clever enough to understand them.

I told you his strategy would be bits like this as he continues his "quest for redemption" tour. Appallingly predictible, but very calculating.
