Normally for any brokerage firm - any - insurance, stockbroking, commercial RE, whatever - comp ratios can't top 70% and pre-tax profits can't really top 20% for too long before the mid-level people all leave to start their own firms. This applies even for ad agencies and PR firms - any people driven businesses. So I assume expenses would have to be more than $500k, and the top two guys would have to share a bit more of the wealth than you suggest. But obviously let's here what a broker says.

>> What do you think he earns on Bravo?

Not much compared to his day job.

This website lists Real Housewives at $75K to $450K depending on how long they've been on the various shows (up to 8 seasons):

This website puts Nielsen ratings on the show at a fraction of Real Housewives:

How exactly do you think it breaks down? Granted, neither you nor I have a clue, but interested in hearing your guess nevertheless.

Hmmm. And how reliable a source is... the "Christian Post"? (with no credible sources cited).

Do the brokers on Million Dollar Listing more frequently get their asking price than other brokers?

"How exactly do you think it breaks down? Granted, neither you nor I have a clue, but interested in hearing your guess nevertheless."

Well, looking at the public Real Estate brokers - Realogy, JLL, CBRE, HF, and First Service, you see non-comp expenses average like 15-25% of REVENUE. And ditto that for the public Advertising holding cos, M&A boutiques, and insurance brokers. Its at the high end or higher for broker-dealers because they have a lot more technology expense. But for the rest of the people-driven businesses, including real estate, peak margins lead to the above sort of figures. If you pay too little in comp, or too much to the equity holders (if they are different from the employees) the top performers leave and form their own firms.

So 10% seems to low to me in the TOP's example. Realogy et al surely have better economies of scale than a smaller firm. That is the whole reason smaller firms get gobbled up by the names listed above.

I am not sure what you are saying, jason. I'm having a hard time connecting your words with the numbers I put in the TOP. Can you break down what you are saying to actual numbers, as in how you think that $5.27M of gross commissions are spent / split?

Me neither. Maybe he should loosen his helmet before responding again.

In advertising, the mid-level people don't have to leave - they get fired before they earn too much and are replaced by kids from SVA.
