They stated the classic is going to be up for a tempory period, then we're going back to the useless new design or a variation of it. I think we're all getting excited over nothing with the classic being back....

The new site is totally useless. No search results regardless of the criteria entered. Bring back the old! Zillow should leave street easy alone.

Having spent last night with my girlfriend looking at investment properties in Miami online and using Zillow for some of it, I am now considering ending my life. It is by far, the worst internet product and idea that I've ever used. Furthermore, having just evaluated their stock and reading the various news associated with the company and the apparently oblivious management in place -- read all the financial publications -- they're souring on this company real fast and it's ironic that I'm reading this after having witnessed what we did this week with Streeteasy. Thanks Zillow for exposing your own faults! If I were on margin and I could short the stock, I would risk every nickel I have. Shit at its current price and buying it back at $30 bucks 6 months from now seems almost inevitable. This sucker is toast and valued wayyyy too high. I'm buying some puts this week.

I find it unbelievable that ZILLOW is trading at $98/share while GM is trading at $32. This is what's fucked up about our economy.

NYCMatt -- $83 a share, but point taken. It's high was $98. I'm not even in finance, but it really couldn't be any more obvious that a more appropriate valuation for zillow is somewhere in the range of $24-27 a share. I mean Facebook, another stupid company has been valued at what? $100billion and that's trading at $51 a share and has a global range. The explosive increase in the Zillow stock price this past year has been unsupported by any real earnings and they're spending too much. Keep issuing shares so "insiders" can liquidate at these inflated prices. Do I have that right? Frankly, I didn't even realize prior to this week that Zillow was a public company that's how little I thought about it. Now having seen what's going on and hearing Rascoff's statement's comparing it to Linkedin (uh, yeah, ok) and their entirely unfounded $3.7 billion valuation, well it's not hard to see what direction their stock price will be heading. Their business model is stitching together a train wreck of misinformation, at best and viewing it through a bottomless pit of never ending scrolling. That's fun for about 15 seconds. Read the comments on all these sites discussing Zillow. Many are from regional realtors, which should be their core revenue stream and interestingly the trail of comments is mainly negative. Somewhat like what has been said this week on the Streeteasy forums. I'm just tired of seeing these crap companies and their management teams make millions (some cases hundreds of millions) with complete garbage.

So who are the brainiacs behind these ridiculous evaluations?

28-year-old Wall Street "analysts" who grew up in the Internet Age who don't really know anything about anything?

Why the hell should I even work for a living anymore? Just create something out of thin air and get it "valued" at 400 kajillion dollars and cash out before the world catches on that it's all BS.

Noticed that as well. It appears that we are again losing some functionality (even with the link to the original site). For example, is it true that we can no longer do a building search / look for buildings by architect, management, developer? Perhaps I just can't find it?

I think Zillow bought SE just to destroy it.

A similar thing happened with a real estate website that used to give excellent estimates of market value, far more nuanced than things like zillow. I used it many times. One of the big banks bought the site and then shut it down.

I rather wish zillow would just kill the site rather than make it suffer and die a slow agonizing death.

This isn't New Coke. Companies do come out with new lay-outs. They will insist you switch knowing full well it's suicidal for a company not to embrace change. They do want your feedback however. They are interested in fixing bugs, not in hearing from people that they want DOS instead of Windows.

One unsolvable problem I have with the new design is that it looks like something for kids to play with.

New York City real estate is the one of the most serious markets in the USA and perhaps the world. To have something that looks like a teaching tool for toddlers when you're dealing with such large amounts of money, not to mention the emotional piece, is just a big turn off for me.

Zillow is not interested. StreetEasy as we know it will be gone shortly. I cancelled my subscription as it is not worth the money any longer. I only subscribed to StreetEasy because they extracted all the documents from ACRIS for apartments in NYC by building. The new layout is not worth the monthly subscription. I just go directly to ACRIS now when I see something on NY Time Real Estate.

They definitely make it almost impossible to track the selling/listng history of a property. This whole business of "price reduced X number of days ago" is laughable - don't know why they think that is preferable to the old listing format with day and date information.

Why can't a new tech savvy computer guy start up something similar to the old streeteasy? The new owners would appear to be letting go of something that others can utilize even if the format would need to be changed a little for legal reasons.

I think Zillow wants to make SE more desirable to the brokerage industry, which is basically how they get paid (I suspect insider accounts are not much).

I always thought SE had the mission of trying to make brokers irrelevant to buyers, if not to sellers.

The brokerage industry does not want consumers who can easily research a property. The truth is, there is a LOT of public information on real estate, but not all of it is on line, or free to obtain online. Some research can only be done with shoe leather and don't let anybody ever tell you differently.

Consider the broker v. the public portals of OLR. Why should they be so different? Commissions are the only thing that is justifiably not public information on OLR. Yet the public OLR is extremely minimal compared to the broker portal. This is to try to force buyers to use an agent.
