This definitely is NOT 1200 square feet. Do not be fooled. 1C which just went into contract is going for more than $500K less and it's the same size. I asked the shady, incompetent broker why he priced it this way. His excuse is that it's the only 3bedroom in the area in this price range. But it's not really 3 Bedrooms. The bedrooms are tiny and the ceiling height is LESS than 8 feet. I'm appalled that this place is priced so much more than 1C. 1C is in much better condition but it's a decent 2bedroom - not this unlivable 3Bedroom.
And you care because you didn't get the listing?
Like living in 2 stacked bowling alleys. yikes
West34, you think that is the reason yikes's ex-wife left him?
Fieldsy - almost every normal guy i know has an ex wife. And when the wife leaves it just saves you the trouble. So if you're going to turn every thread personal youll have to do better.
Both are weird spaces, but for me, the floorplan of 1B is significantly better than 1C. It's tough to call 1C anything more than a one bedroom because one of the two bedrooms has to walk upstairs or through the "master" bedroom to get to a bathroom.
At least based on the posted floorplan, 1B does look like a legit three bedroom -- albeit a weird, dark, small, and strangely laid out three bedroom, but a three bedroom nonetheless. It's possible someone who really wants to live in Chelsea and has three children (or two opposite gender children) could make this work.
Asking price is probably aspirational, but you can pay that much for a one bedroom in this area. The next lowest priced three bed in Chelsea is $900,000 more expensive, also has a tiny room that's not really a bedroom, and is in a marginal area (29th st). After that, the next one is a million dollars more expensive.
This place may be a white elephant, but it may also be an interesting option for people who don't have other options in the neighborhood.
Me, I'll keep my nearby one bed den, 1.5 bath with light, views, and a roof terrace.
