Discussion about
My friend is buying a Coop and the package mentions a "gift to the coop board." Has anyone ever heard of that?
I think something got lost between what your friend read, what you were told, and "gift to co-op board."
Maybe it means a flip tax, paid to the co-op itself, not to the board.
I believe that would be found under "Bribes & Kickbacks" in the offering plan.
Just send them flowers unless they're on a diet, in which case you'd send candy ~ & not the cheap shit.
What neighborhood is this in?
Thanks all. I thought it was strange.
Board Prez here. Sounds odd. I have never heard of a "gift" to the board. If there is a managing agent for the building, call them and ask exactly what does it mean, and what is expected.
HDFC, by any chance?
unless they are talking about "gifting" in terms of a purchase. otherwise a gift to the board would be really odd
@sdeniseed: what's the building? I'm curious about this one.
Did we ever find out what neighborhood this was in?
the Bronx
Bronx is a borough or county, not a neighborhood
I'm on a Co-op Board and I would never expect a gift. Bizarre request.
Any updates ?
As a co-op board member I would never solicit or expect any "gift" with a purchase app. Conflict of interest much? Sheesh.
