Discussion about
Hello, My wife and I are looking to rent a townhouse in Bed-Stuy but don't know the area very well. We are making the move from the UWS but also already lived in Williamsburg a few years ago when it was not completely developed. We think that Bed-Stuy actually has potential to be the next Williamsburg vs Bushwich which in my opinion doesn't have the charme of bed-stub or williamsburg. But I guess that's another discussion ;) Anyways my question, what areas in Bed-Stuy are safe which ones are more developed which less? I am asking because we want to start a family here. We appreciate all your feedback. Chris and Lea PS: If any owners here are looking to rent their house please let us know we have very strong financials. thank you

The place to be is off of Lewis Ave and Stuyvesant Ave, between Halsey and Gates. Beautiful homes, protected by landmarking.

Personally I think of Upper West Siders as more naturally Crown Heights residents. You should give streets like Sterling and Park Place off of New York Ave and Kingston a second look. Those are gorgeous blocks and irreplaceable homes that are perfect for families.

Hi Sirius,

I was looking to buy an investment property at Bed-Stuy and decided against it. The area is not as safe as I would want it to be. I finally bought a brownstone in Hamilton Heights (the landmarked Sugar Hill area), which is a few subway stops further up from the UWS. Beautiful housing with quality tenants (mostly Columbia and CUNY professionals).

Good luck!

Western Bedstuy borderline Clinton Hill and Stuyvesant Heights are very safe. I own a townhouse on Clinton Hill border, and based on daily crime reports sent to my email (spotcrime.com)the the worse crime that had happened in the last 3 years I've lived here are someone stealing credit card info and auto theft. No shooting or robbery had happened.

I live in thew south-western side. It is quiet, safe, and very beautiful. The A express train takes you to Fulton Station in Manhattan in 12 minutes. I love the neighborhood.

It depends how long you like to walk. The train at Franklin takes you there in 5 min. I picked this area because is quiet, the architecture is unbelievable in this part of Bed-Stuy and I found a great house very close to the express A station. So you are a troll, I see. Good luck with the wonderful life that all trolls get to live!

When you pass over the bridge I am underneath, I will still be taller than you. Both in height, as well as in morals - given how you treated the SRO residents so you could occupy your wonderful architecture all to yourself.

How long have you been lurking petrfitz? Mimi's behavior must excite you, but instead of Harlem she chose Brooklyn- you support that?

Funny, how anger and frustration gets funneled in the most curious settings. I was looking for a vacant SRO with certificate of no harassment, because this is what I was able to buy. How did I harass tenants? I understand that trolls need the instant gratification that they get insulting and attacking, in order to fill the big empty hole inside of their souls. I don't get angry or defensive in these cases, I just feel pity and compassion. When u pass the bridge, nobody will see you, because you have only hate inside you and nobody will give a shit.

Police released two photos Tuesday of a suspect who allegedly threw a block of ice at a woman, and struck her in the head, outside a Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn subway station.
Around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, the suspect was on the street when he allegedly hit the 28-year-old woman with a block of ice while she was walking up the stairs to the Utica Avenue A and C train station, police said.

A 24-year-old woman was shot and injured yesterday while attempting to pick her daughter up from a day care center in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Authorities say she was caught in the crossfire during an attempted robbery at a bodega across the street.

Nice. If I'm a troll, I suppose I've done well to highlight Mimi's immorality that she can't even find a way to deny or apologize for, I've exposed yet another one of Alan's odd fetishes, and I've gotten petrfitz to rejoin streeteasy with his special brand of hypocritical hysteria.

Aren't you special (in your own mind)? Nobody cares about you any more, you've lost all effectiveness, you combine pedantry with judgment and narrow-mindedness, and that's not even addressing you're total lack of regard for the truth and willingness to misrepresent what people say. Go back under your bridge. I hope you get pissed on by those who pass by, you deserve it.

We might as well seek an answer to that question since today's SAT word ( used 3 times in a row by petrfitz) is "pedantic". Very big word for a man whose seems to enjoy water sports (I guess that is better than Alan).

Well, isn't this such a special discussion between the Se trolls "alanhart " and the notreadyforanything ( except starting fights on se ) who now posts her usual angry, frustrated comments on se, by a new name . "Mimi" is a member of that gang of trolls, just another follower beholden to them. Brownhurst is being called "a troll" by the worst garbage trolls who are still trying to control se discussions.

And how many identities has the troll now known as brownhurst enjoyed? Let's see: huntersburg, gothamsboro, (I may have misspelled either or both since they are not worth looking up) and a variety of others that all amount to, usually, irrelevant drivel. If you believe Mimi to represent immorality, I'd hate to see what your life looks like. Either you have achieved an impossible level of moral perfection or you are a flagrant hypocrite. Mimi approached her house hunt with respect for the people and culture of the communities she was considering, that's more than I can say for most gentrifiers.

Asshole. The child broke her wrist and wound up at Elmhurst, the nearest ER, and I wasn't with her. It made Bellevue seem like a palace. Thankfully we have an orthopedist at the Hospital for Special Surgery who got her in that week. It's sad how massively disparate the quality of care can be.

I met Alanhart in either Aug or Sept of 2012 (and btw, he first introduced himself as Huntersburg!). That aside, I have not looked at your latest suspects, but let me guess: they are fairly polite people seeking to be educated about New York real estate? Do they have dogs? Are they interested in a cute affordable apartment in one of the most popular neighborhoods in the world? From the midwest? It is hard to hide when you are as unique as I (and in case it is not clear, I am being facetious; I am about as generic a SE user as one could be; accordingly, I suspect that the bulk of SE Discussion readers resemble me in some fashion).

@ph41 and anyone else who has been on here a long time (would particularly love to hear from truthskr10, whose opinions I respect as much as those as NWT) - All the hfscomm comments were deleted by the time I started paying real attention to SE discussions; as someone who was on SE during that period, is it your opinion that FC/HB/GB/GD was behind those usernames? I am genuinely curious.
@FC - were you behind those usernames? During the time I have been paying attention (sporadically over the past 2.5 years), you seem pretty upfront about owning the FC/HB/GD/GB handles, and a few others appear only minimally veiled, if at all, so I am thinking that if you were behind the hfscomm personae you would own it, but then again, it is pretty clear that I am quite naive.

Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer was an effective trial lawyer; I was a terrible trial lawyer. That does not mean I am a terrible lawyer; as a litigator, I was effective pre-trial and with judges and arbitrators, but really terrible in front of a jury. I don't litigate at the trial court level anymore, and haven't on a regular basis in quite some time, dusting off my trial court level skills only once in the past 15 years to assist a friend of a friend in need with an issue that was also of some general interest to me. Lord knows I am going to regret this, but precisely which part of the "full picture" are you not seeing? You have all the material facts.

I didn't say you were doing your unfrozen caveman lawyer well, just that your MO was too obvious, which would make it the opposite of a strong performance. As you humbly point out.

The real story behind that performance, the actual lawyer off of which it was based was from C0lumbia C0unty, New York. He wasn't actually frozen and unfrozen, but the cold winters, relative isolation (even the deer were long gone), and lack of a sufficient tax base to support education made him seem like he was an unfrozen caveman.

Self-awareness is not the many-named troll's forte. Hypocrisy, willful misrepresentation and an unwarranted sense of moral superiority and thus the right to judge and condemn are. I was told by SE that the comm creature had multitudes of handles (so busy, so industrious), not all including the beloved four letters. Yes, most believe go/hb/fc is one and the same. There are many reasons not to be so forthcoming, SE (prior to the sale to the current owners of course) actually asked me to report the troll to the police.

Yes, I am fine with your including all posts by mcr, foolish renter and nycnovice. I do not agree to your including any other names you imagine to be mine, though I suppose if you include those of your vivid imagination, it would just dilute your point even further.

I don't think that is the way math works. If including mcr, foolishrenter - single purpose accounts to cover the real life topic over which you are obsessed - then the evidenced level of obsessiveness would increase. Do you agree with that statement or disagree?

I disagree but am keeping an open mind and look forward to your presentation of the evidence.

You get kind of cold when you don't get your way.

That is not consistent with feedback I have received in the past, but you are entitled to your opinion and it is always interesting to hear others' perceptions. Go on.

I am aware I am entitled to my opinion. I'm glad you are interested to hear my opinion too. But since I've already stated my opinion, about what topic would you like me to go on?
