Discussion about
A hedge fund manager bought a Manhattan condo using an LLC which is a California Limited Liability Company for his mistress(she told me this) I know know the officer and the address of his LLC. How would I go about finding if ownership was really turned over to her. Can it be found out? Who would I have to hire, a P.I.? I do not live in California. Thanks in advance. me) So I now have the officers name and the address of the LLC(which is in Los Angeles

If ownership was transferred from the LLC to her, the deed would show up on ACRIS.

There's no way to find out who owns how much of the LLC, if she doesn't know.

There was another poster a few months back trying to figure this out for quite likely no good reasons.

Thanks for the reply NWT. She did say she got it free and clear but I can't find her name on ACRIS. Could the deed now be in the name of her LLC? They are not going to make it easy for anyone to find out. As far as fieldchester goes I made my first post here last week and NWT gave me excellent advice regarding a trust and I realize I had the wrong condo and person because of NWT. I now correctly researched the Hedge Fund Manager's dozen LLC 's to find the right condo with the right LLC and I did.

Look up the apartment on ACRIS and there'll be the latest deed. Then check that against the address on the tax bill.

NTW, I actually found the name of the Hedge Fund Manager's LLC and story of the purchase of the condo through a real estate column. (I googled the Hedge fund managers name and the mistresses building) They only gave the floor of the building(but it's the right building) When I went to ACRIS to punch in the name (under business name) of his LLC it did not show up. So if the name of his LLC doesn't show up could that mean then in fact a new LLC now owns the property which I suspect?

NTW, ignore previous message. I just found his LLC on ACRIS. What does it mean if party 1 and party 2 have the same name(The LLC is the same for party 1 and party 2)? Could that mean the property is being transferred by his Officer of his LLC from himself to his mistress? So won't that mean the tax bill will go to the same address as before? I haven't gotten to the tax bill yet.

My mistake. The deed is under party 2, the Hedge fund Managers LLC, The seller was party 1. I will have now check the apt.

It only gives me the block and lot number, not the apt #. What do I do next?

I just found this piece of information out. For the purchase the Hedge Fund's manager's address of the LLC is now the NYC building. In 2010 when he last bought in NYC his LLC (same name) had the California address. Could that mean with the new address ownership could have changed?

Block and lot are all you need. Do a Parcel Identifier search, and you'll see the deeds between however many owners there've been.
