Discussion about
I recently moved out of an apartment to which I was owed a security deposit back. The landlord kept $75 dollars of my deposit for some vinyl flooring she claims I installed in the apartment. The flooring was there when we moved in. I am convinced she either did not inspect the apartment from the previous tenants or she also charged the previous tenants for the flooring and never removed it. I also... [more]

Sounds like a difficult situation.
Here is a model of what not to do: http://streeteasy.com/talk/discussion/31859

And a little rewind to 5 years ago may bring you some further insight.

@mistygray21 - An intermediary recently conveyed to me an offer from my former landlord that while he admits no wrongdoing, he would sign a private apology to be drafted by me and return the portion of my security deposit he withheld in exchange for my requesting that Streeteasy remove my posts detailing what I experienced. I have conveyed to the intermediary that I do not accept that offer. I posted on Streeteasy to warn other potential renters; not to get my security deposit back, but apparently, contrary to what fieldschester suggests, posting on Streeteasy can be an effective means of getting your security deposit back. However, do read the link that I posted because if you take that route, you do have to be prepared to defend anything you say in court.

Just to clarify, when NYcNovice says "I" that is a Clintonian use of the word. She had multiple "I"s, deceiving many. But after her misleading unethical behavior, 3+ years, attorneys, etc. she will get her partial security deposit back. And you can do the same for your $75.

I never hired an attorney and was not acting as an attorney when I posted. And I am not getting my security deposit back because the offered quid pro quo was that I ask Streeteasy to remove my posts. I don't think my behavior was unethical in the least, and I actually don't think the troll does either; I think he is just upset that I value the content of certain other posters over his and is now fixated on trying to get a rise out of me. Again, at least I am in good company with Bburg, alanhart, 300Mercer, Inonada, and Ali.

What about c0lumbiac0unty and w67thstreet? Are you in good company with them?
And Ali? And inoitall - what is your obsession with him, he hasn't been around in ages?
By the way, on that thread where you said you found an attorney ("We found an attorney (no thanks to any of you I might add)...") - were you telling the truth then or are you telling the truth now?

Both - found an attorney but did not hire the attorney.

Once again, the full facts aren't forthcoming with you so easily. Always a slant.

And on that, when you offered on that thread to reveal your identity offline (you are an attorney) and to assist anyone who had a problem with your adversary, if not in the capacity of an attorney as you disclaim immediately above, under what capacity would you have acted on such party's behalf?

A fact witness who could testify to pattern and practice. Look FC, you know I appreciate a lot of your posts, but you are out of your depth here. Nevertheless, I remain available to answer any other questions related to this matter that you might have.

I understand your reticence to answer my questions truthfully in writing and so I will let you off the hook for now. Hope you aren't mad.

I am not mad at all. This is a serious matter and interested parties are entitled to ask questions. That is why I have never hidden my identity.
