Can I suggest a couple of characters to make the show exciting?
A really old curmudgeon from upstate
A hairy bitter mid 40s man who farts a lot and is always bragging about his weight lifting and watches
A know it all
A person with multiple personalities that are all identical and who is new to New York
A woman who is always about ready, but never quite accomplishes anything except via her husband
A bunch of boring hockey fans lacking personality

Ok fine, I just Googled Alan Hart and I think you'll fit in fine with some of this cast.

LOL, it smells of Bravo. You know, it might work. If they're looking for the usual fare for reality TV, then this could be it. Of course I wouldn't watch it.....after the first episode.

I think they'd be looking for a tension packed story line, meaning a lot of problems during renovations with a lot of drama between the clients and contractors. These are not informational shows on construction. Gothamsboro is right on with the cast of characters.

I like "Love It or List It" (the original Toronto one) because Fergus always discovers some unexpected problem that wrecks the budget, and the homeowners (all of whom were first turned down for "Hoarders") never get all that they want.

The best drama would be in coops, but I doubt we'll ever see a Board allow filming, etc.

True. E.g., on The Real Housewives of New York, no cast member has lived in a co-op. Ramona's exterior shot is of some co-op on Park, but the interior filming is of her condo on Third.

On the RE shows, the Kleiers filmed in a few co-ops, on whatever old show that was, but the rest have all been condos, too.

There's still scope, though, as condos also have alteration agreements, etc.

NWT: You're correct about the filming permissions. I've lived in condos and coops that would not allow filming either in the apartments or common spaces. The only exception was for a real estate ads with a very limited access time.
