Contacting the owner about an off-market listing?

Discussion about
I recently contacted a broker about his apartment listing and was told that I had to view it on that day since the owners were taking it off the market the following day to "renovate" it and now it is finally off-market. The apartment had been on the market for over a year with several price cuts and appears newly renovated so I suspect they are switching to another broker or simply taking it off the market for a while. However, I am very interested in the apartment but now have no way of seeing the apartment. Any advice about how to contact the owner or should I reach out to the broker again? Normally I wouldn't think twice about an off-market listing but I have looked at apartments in the building before and would be likely to make an offer after viewing it.

You know the address, it's relatively easy to find out the owners' name. Write them a letter expressing your disappointment that you didn't get to see it in time, since you're really interested in it, and ask them about a showing, and potential private sale. Easier than asking for a date.

Their last listing agreement may have some clause that lets the last broker back into a transaction, but that's their problem, not yours.

Whatever happened to that woman who posted the same question but under several different names, I think NYCNovice, multicityrenter, New2Me, foolishrenter and a few others.
