Discussion about 55 East End Avenue #14A
please tell me that the 3 Andirondeck chairs aren't permanent or are going to be replaced with real furniture? if one were camping they may be considered to be passable but not on East End Avenue. I don't think they are quaint, they are cheap. How many units are there in the building? Probably more comfortable than Stickley, but most anything is. I wonder if Robert A.M. Stern is using those chairs across the street at his new luxury building?

So the "roof garden" is a few cushionless chairs on pavers? No planters, furniture with cushions, tables?

No, that is indeed the main lobby of the building,, not a doctor's office.

I guess one could live with the Adirondack chairs and lobby for 1.4mil. A two bedroom low level apt at 20 East End Avenue is over 4 mil, however one has to walk through that lobby every day. It would be perfectly acceptable if you were getting an implant.

I have to agree Einstein. With that being said, fugly lobbies new and old seem to be the norm. I itch when i walk through them all. I'm allergic to the "look" of these joints! Wear blinders!! ......and tell your friends a new lobby is in the works ! No one wants friends to snicker at a big investment with a bad entrance.

If you don't appreciate teak, the building is not for you.

Dorothy Draper did the lobby originally. Draper's designs are having a resurgence so of course the Board ripped it out . Just looks commercial to me, like a dental office and wood that color reminds me of Burger King.

The roof deck is just sad and isn't a roof garden. Home Depot displays are better and this is East End Avenue. Obviously there is a difference between the money at this building and the Stern or Marino buildings but 4 Andirondeck chairs? Painful.
