Granted this unit has been remodeled, it's nothing significant and certainly not worth $1000 more. The bathrooms are tiny and the kitchen is OK. There's also a lot of street noise as the unit overlooks Amsterdam. There's a fire station around the corner and you hear the trucks all the time.
The elevator breaks all the time! And when it breaks you have to use the service elevator which does not stop on the floor leading to the exist, you need to walk down some very steep stairs to exit the building. It's an older building. Last year, the heat was out for nearly two weeks!
Be careful of the broker renting the unit. He's a compulsive liar and will make claims that are absolutely not true. If have questions regarding the unit be sure to talk to the building management. The broker also charges a very large fee: 15% of the annual rent and there's no negotiating it down.
We have found that the management company is raising rents over 20% when it's time renew forcing a lot of families to move.
