Discussion about
I am closing on a new condo in NYC. The COO was approved and a closing notice given on April 2. Two weeks later, all purchasers have been given the right to rescind in the next 15 days. Has anyone come across a situation like this? Any thoughts on why this may occur? Curious.

Could it be as simple as the developer hopes they can get a few units back and resell for more money? Or some clause in the contract was triggered by a non-performance of some type but they don't want to call attention to what it is specifically?

Maybe the closings were delayed by more than a year after the offering plan said they'd be, in which case the sponsor has to let you bail if you want to. See http://www.ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/pdfs/bureaus/real_estate_finance/Memo-re-Delay-in-Closing.pdf

wanting to resell for more money (implication: i've already done well with my investment. ;)
