Discussion about
Does anybody have a telescope brand/model to recommend for viewing of the river traffic on the Hudson? Not interested in the type meant for star and planet gazing and not interested in peeping in windows. But it's fun to watch the red tailed hawks in Riverside Park and all the boats and barges traveling up and down the river. Thanks in advance.

We have an ancient Abercrombie and Fitch that actually works quite well. That said, we tend to use binocs for watching the hawks because they move way too fast to track with the scope!

You should also seriously consider investing in a high-speed DSLR camera with zoom for capturing the hawks in flight. We've even occasionally spotted and photographed a lone bald eagle flying along the Hudson :-)

Thanks, Bram. And thanks, Truthskr10 -- I like that you can get the binocs as "coin-operated." I could pick up a little cash by charging my friends and neighbors for a look!
