Discount for lot line windows

How much of a discount should a developer offer on an apartment with lot line windows? If they had to be bricked over it would not lower the legal number of bedrooms but you'd still be losing those windows. Also who pays for bricking over/blending it into the wall if the neighboring lot gets built?

I bought a condo with lot line windows for the kitchen, master bedroom, and one side of the dining room. They would not consider a lot line discount claiming that the property next door was a public park, not likely to be sold.

cc, Will depend of how may feet of windows you are losing and whether the remaining windows are still adequate. I would think of that in terms of how many years I expect to have these windows and how much per year I want to pay for the extra windows assuming.

I would think it would depend on which rooms and whether or not all the windows in that room were lot lined. In the case of a kitchen or bathroom, they can still be legal without a window, so if you lost the window it wouldn't be catastrophic. But if a bedroom or living room had it's only windows as lot lined then losing them would be a very big deal.

Thank goodness there are people like CCL3 who would even consider this silly move and therefore will absorb the worst inventory thereby subsidizing the rest of us sane people.

My unit has a lot line window in the kitchen. As part of my due diligence, I discovered that the air rights to the adjacent lot were sold away to the big development on the corner, so at this point it's protected (though it still faces a wall 20' away, but it's better than nothing).

fieldschester I don't really understand your comment. And I would only buy lot line if there was an appropriate discount, which is why I asked. If I were willing to buy crappy inventory I wouldn't still be in the market.
