Discussion about 45 Tompkins Place #1
At the end of my 3rd year in this apartment, the landlord's daughter told me that she needed me to move out, because she needed to move her aging father into the ground-floor apartment, because it is wheelchair accessible. She explained that she would need to re-do the bathroom to make it wheelchair accessible. Several months later, the tiny apartment hit the market, boasting "a complete renovation" including "top-of-the-line appliances" for a nearly 50% bump in rent. Her dad, meanwhile, still lives in the upper duplex. I have lived in Cobble Hill for 25 years, and on Tompkins Place for 22. I was happy to give my apartment to a wonderful long-time neighbor and active member of the community. . . I am disappointed to find that this is not why I was asked to move.
