Discussion about
Hi All, Just had Verizon door knock me here on Henry St (corner Clark) that they are wanting to run a fiber for FIOS along the fence line (between Henry and Monroe). On one hand its good for our building as faster and cheaper internet is a good thing....on the other hand....why they heck cant they do it right and run it in ducts along the street and bury it so that both Verizon and Spectrum can be run in our neighborhood without visual blight of stringing ugly cables. Is there any rights we have in this area? I'm likely to swap my ISP from Spectrum to Fios (for the speed increase) but not sure I really want to be looking out my window at yet more cables poorly managed like they are with TWC. Thoughts?

Fios is not that great and very expensive IMHO.

What ended up happening? NYC is not perfect but I'd be willing to make a small sacrifice for faster internet any day.

It all sucks. I thought about "cutting the cord" but then saw that internet-based entertainment might cost even more - e.g. YouTube Red, YouTube TV, Amazon prime, Netflix, etc.

Can not really cut the cord as you still need internet access. If you do not use cable service, fios and time warner can increase “the internet only rate” after you sign up.
