DIY renovation experience?

Has anyone completed DIY renovations within their co-ops? Any major lessons or experience takeaways? I'm thinking of completing a lot of renovation work (other than electrical/plumbing) myself, such as floor replacement, cabinet installation, possibly tiling.

not much, need to remove the flooring and gut the kitchen.

Are you sure your building will let you? What insurance is going to cover you if something goes wrong?
