You can see the overall maps at the "NYC Dept of Education":http://www.nycboe.net/OurSchools

But you should understand these are just for the regions and districts. The zoning for individual schools looks very much like those for election districts...they've been tweaked for years.

Some schools are neighborhood schools (which I think is what you are asking about) those have catchment areas and you must live in that catchment area to be guaranteed a spot in that school. Some schools often allow for individuals living in another district or neighborhood to apply for a variance, but most good public schools do not have space for this. The department of Ed site http://maps.nycboe.net/ has maps with the catchment areas outlined on them. Type in the school name or your address to find out what school you are zoned for.

ps. If you go to http://maps.nycboe.net/ and click on the school tab, and type in - say "6" for ps6 in Manhattan - when you get your results click on the radio button "elementary schools and zones" and it will show you what streets you need to live on to get a space in that school.

You can also call 311 ...it is the nyc line for everything....just give them address and they will give you the school that address is zoned for....it is a main line for many things...so don't get thrown when you here options for water / heat complaints ...just ask an operator for school zone info....
