Discussion about
More proof that NYC's architecture is banal and ugly and nowhere close to the level of Chicago. http://www.wirednewyork.com/forum/showpost.php?p=265964&postcount=411

Are we honestly comparing Sheraton hotels? Fine. These aren't winning any awards in Chicago:

And the latest entry on one review site for Chicago Sheraton Hotel and Towers:
“The rooms are tiny and don't expect to get a good nights rest. We heard everyone walking down the hall ways and the room walls are paper thin. We could hear the entire conversations of other guests on both sides of our room. We were awoken each time in the night from someone coming in and out of their rooms. The mattresses are very uncomfortable and old. Plus the parking is $47 per night. Way out of line. We would never stay at this hotel again.”

alpine292, the peninsula hotel in Chicago has been consistently ranked as one of the top hotels in America, ahead of any hotel in NYC.

Also, it's hilarious that you bring up the Plaza. Their condo units have been a disaster. I guess you're not aware of all the lawsuits that were filed because the condos ended up being totally subpar.

Yeah, Cracker Boy, you already posted a great "ranking" of hotels -- and Chicago beat New York. Because the "ranking" was alpha by city name. Genius.

Cracker Boy, here's the Forbes '50 Best Hotels in America' ranking. That's ranking, not alphabetical list by city name.

There are four NYC hotels ranked higher before Penisula Chicago appears. In total, of the 50 best US hotels listed, 6 are in NYC, vs. only 2 in Chicago. At least the 2 in Chicago have bulletproof windows.
