Here's the link. http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/sale/377042-coop-11-fifth-avenue-greenwich-village-new-york

I think it's, um, dated... That being said, it's not even close to my taste, so I might be missing something.

It's amazing how colors as well as forms go out of style, isn't it?

I can imagine a world in which a buyer loves the layout, and likes the forms and the furniture but can't stand the constant gray and tan -- I would think it would be possible to selectively punch up the color scheme with a very gray-undertoned blue, light green or lavender without having to throw out all the furnishings, or even rip out the kitchen -- and the result wouldn't take away from Kagan's intent entirely.

Still, it would need a good eye.

And you could still have your friends over a couple of times a week to do the Mr. Roboto dance with you, surrounded by all the way cool silver-leaf finishes.

My bad, forgetting to post the link. Thanks buster. I love silver leaf, in moderation--like on a ceiling or wall of small entry foyer, but egad! A whole apartment of it? It is like a reflective bunker to me. The furniture is the best part (along with overall layout) but that isn't what is for sale I imagine. I don't think there will be any takers before a price reduction to account for money that'll be needed for updating/renovations--that kitchen is ancient and not worth saving IMO. Building is much better than white ones, I think, and location is A-One prime. Maintenance is tolerable for buildings in area. No dog policy is unfortunate. Interesting to see what happens with this one.

Sponge paint - check. Track lighting - check. Nasty carpeting - check. The only redeeming thing about this listing is the womb chair, and it's most likely not included in the sale.

Considering the overall nastiness of the apartment along with the insane maintenance, this place is way, way overpriced. Someone is still partying like it's 2006, apparently...

Maintenance is actually completely in keeping with the neighborhood and not even at the higher side for a one-bedroom.

"It would be the dream of any modernist furniture or art collector to own these great works, but to own them at no additional cost is TRULY AMAZING."

Laying it on a bit thick, eh Marilyn? "Great works" my ass. Trying to spin an ostentatious and downright hideous deco job as a 'value add' is, at best, pitiful. The place is disgracefully ugly and the owner ought to be embarrassed, frankly. But I guess you cannot buy good taste. And who even DOES wall-to-wall anymore? The off-gassing alone of those things is vomit-inducing enough, let alone the ill-conceived aesthetics.

" Join the likes of such luminaries as Marilyn Monroe, Walt Disney, Andy Warhol, Tom Ford, Frank Sinatra as well as such esteemed institutions as the San Francisco Museum of Art, Chicago’s Athenaeum, Cooper Hewitt, the Brooklyn Museum and many more in owning a work by Vladimir Kagan."

WTF, Marilyn?

Gut the place & donate all that 'awt' to whoever will take it.

It IS haut fifties, mid-century modern, certainly not to everybody's taste but I'm with Ali; I think there's a lot to work with tho' again, not to everybody's taste. The kitchen looked OK to me but then I don't need new new new.

You could probably still catch a buzz by vacuuming the bar in that closet and snorting the contents of the dust bag.

Kagan has done some wonderful things but I don't think this is one of them. Great style can age gracefuly, this could have been part of the set for "wall street", Bud would have loved it because it is a "Kagan". It is a work of art though and for the right person it could be bliss with a few tweaks.(Living room walls). I don't know maybe too much wine with dinner...
