Discussion about
NYC's crime is spiraling out of control. I have predicted that the financial crisis will lead to a rapid escalation in violent crime, and it looks like things are headed back to the 1970's. Bloomberg has utterly failed as a mayor. At least the murders in Chicago are limited to the housing projects in far south and west side. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,489685,00.html

PyschoCrackerBoy, murders in Chicago are by no mean limited either to housing projects or to the south and west side. Ergo, the crime stats for all of the "best" loop and north side areas of Chitroit show murder rates that are triple the US average (although a bit lower than war-time Iraq).

Yea 4 people get murdered on an island of over 1.6 million people and crime is all of a sudden "spiraling out of control".

I have a theory that rufus and some of the other posters on this site were dreamed up by the folks at streeteasy to rile us up and drive traffic. It's like, they're at the office one day and someone says, "Hey, what if we add a new character, and he's bitter and crazy and is obsessed with Chicago, that will drive the posters crazy".

I sure hope you're not right about that, Wish. The mod of another forum I used to frequent did much the same thing. Unfortunately for him, we all left and formed our own forum.

Now he just goes back through our old posts and edits our conversations with the "character" he made up to make us sound like idiots and his alter-ego sound like a genius.

It's pretty sick, actually.

Doof, domestic crime can happen anywhere, even in Bumfuk, Idaho, pop. 280. The only thing spiraling out of control here is your continued pitiful campaign to malign the greatest city on the planet.

He's the guy at the bar uttering nonsense and rather than fight him, you just go home early. I'm going home.

rufus, you have hit a new low. Even as sad as you are, this is terrible. This was a lover's triangle, murder-suicide that is tragic and for you to think this is indicative of random acts of violence to reflect your outright hatred of NYC is sad.

No one claimed that when Jennifer Hudson's mother, sister and nephew were killed that is was a product of the mean streets of Chicago. It could have happened anywhere. Same thing in the UWS murder-suice.

You are a sad, lonely man.

I think it is a great thing that Columbia rejected your ass. You obviously don't have the compassion or humanity that any Ivy League school would look for. I hope that you are happy in Chicago where there are plenty of other Midwesterns with the same mentality as you.

kingdeka makes a point here rufus... this is quite unnecessary given the background of the violence.

When I lived in Chicago in the 90's friends will tell me that how could I live in Spain with the basc terrorist killing there. My answer was that there were more deaths in Chicago in one year than all the deaths produced by ETA in 40 years.
