Discussion about
I don't see many places for sale in this area. Is most of the real estate in the area handled by local smaller brokers? Like the quietness of this area. Anyone have any ideas?

babsie02,

It's a very small area, so there's not likely to be a lot. I do see a couple listings on Front St here with Corcoran, so I'm not sure a local broker would offer too much that's different. It's so close to Dumbo, that I'm sure most brokers there are familiar with listings as well. Hope that helps a little.

seems like a lot of places for sale in vinegar hill just call it dumbo to get more folks interested.

right next to the projects, so I'd avoid the area.

I don't know who would even want to buy in an area named for a violent and bloody battle in the Irish Rebellion.

Nor for a big fat elephant, but at least then you can make "white elephant" jokes if the real estate market were ever to sour.

babsie02 - what type of property are you looking for? Much of Vinegar Hill is multifamily homes. There are a few new developments - the Vista on Front, which bjw2103 cites above, and 99 Gold (which converted to rentals after struggling as condos).

If you think you might want to buy, you might consider renting first. It's truly charming, but some people find it to be pretty remote, even as compared to Dumbo. Not so bad if you have a car, though.

Again, because it is next to the projects.
