Discussion about
The closets are so skimpy. The pre-wars lack good bathrooms. And the new developments have no real closet space. Is that supposed to be the trade-off?

What prewars are you looking at? Granted, most new condos have nice master baths, but the secondary baths are smaller than prewar bathrooms.

Fan of white brick 60's here.

Lots of closets. Lots of space for the money. Who needs big bathrooms?

Glass is so last year.

One of the many trade-offs. The developer and architect are juggling space based on what they think will sell. The buyer prioritizes closets vs. bathrooms or vs. whatever, and makes the call. Right now the fad is for what's called a walk-in closet, which're usually useless as such.

ho, exactly. Two small baths go a lot further than one big two-sink one.

Yes, what's up with the two-sink bathrooms? How much time does one really spend at the sink? Is this meant for husband and wife to brush teeth side-by-side? Same with the "walk-in" closets which are more like "step-in" closets and have less space for clothes than a pre-war regular closet.

The other thing I can't stand is floorplans where you step straight into the kitchen or "dining area" when you enter the apartment.

One of the mysteries about how other people actually live. If we had to go back to having one bathroom for both of us, we definitely wouldn't be in there at the same time.
