127the Street...is it safe

Yes, it is Harlem. As a whole Harlem is safe. There are some blocks that are still a bit sketchy, and others that are terrific. I am not as familiar with 127th St so I can not comment as to specific. For your reference- Harlem's northern border is 155th st. I live in the 140's near Broadway and feel safer and more comfortable there than I do on parts of 125th St.

It appears that 127th and Lenox has seen muggings recently and 112 to 116 on Lenox is an area with some activity as well
If you are interested in the area post to that newsgroup and the members will respond. Generally, they are very positive on harlem and live there. However, they are quite frank in responding if you have specific questions
