Discussion about
Riverside South, the mega development between West 59th and 61st streets along the Hudson River, is being considered by Metro-North as a location for an Upper West Side railway stop. The MTA has long studied the possibility of connecting Metro-North’s New Haven and Hudson lines, which terminate in Grand Central Station, with Penn Station. But without room at Penn Station, an entrance on the West Side is being considered. http://westsidespirit.com/?p=1785 Bizarro. Or sensible. I can't decide.
Huh? People would get off and...transfer to the excruciatingly slow cross town bus? What? That is no-wheres ville as far as any commuter is concerned.
Yes, there is no room at penn station, but the post office across the street has been planned as the new penn station anyway... there is definitely room when you spread amtrak, NJ transit, lirr between the two (which was planned).
This plan has been under discussion since Trump built 200 Riverside Blvd...odds of it happening now, with this economy...??? What do you think?
I could be wrong but I believe accommodations were made for the station, when the building was built.
Anybody remember when they had the original planned location for the JFK Airtrain stop?
59th & Lex...
bump...
sounds like its being "considered" in that a whiny woman asked about it for her district, and they said they'd listen to her pitch.
Doesn't sound like its seriously under consideration any more than any other place with a plot of usable land.
