address?
ha i know which listing that is. i went to the open house with my broker. the person who bought it died and now the spouse has to sell and quick.
woah i am spending far too much time on here if i could tell it was 40 East 9th just from the pricing and brokerage.
people, a little compassion? a young couple bought the apartment, planned a gut renovation, the husband got sick almost immediately, and died. the wife does not by any stretch 'have to sell and quick.' she has two young kids and she WANTS to sell because it is too much for her to do the massive renovation on her own and instead she is going to stay in her current apartment (also in the building).
it may be a great opportunity for someone to get a big space in the village for a great price, but let's not be so ghoulish.
HR, you are the last person to be reprimanding others for discussing a seller's listing circumstances. Not to mention that you just revealed a heck of a lot more about the seller than jasonkyle.
Happy, you ought to be ashamed. Truly. Not cool at all.
cackle cackle cackle
at least no one mentioned what really happened in the back of that clown car...
I'm so ashamed.
how the heck does everyone here know so much about the seller? Are you guys stalkers? Do you know the seller? With over 11,000 sellers in Manhattan, how the heck do 2 people on this forum just happen to know about 1 specific seller?
i just started reading the blogs and honestly the whole concept of people sitting behind their computers and getting some type of joy because people are in situations where they cannot sell their apt gives them a thrill is a mystery to me.
it's a lovely apt, very sad for the owner and i hope things work out in the best way possible
We don't take joy in people not being able to sell their apartments. We take joy in people not being able to sell their apartments for ridiculously high prices. There is a difference.
wait--i should be ashamed of myself for clearing up the ghoulishness and misconceptions being spread about this apartment? please.
there is nothing wrong with "discussing a seller's listing circumstances," kylewest, and that's not what i was reprimanding anyone about. there IS a problem with 1. spreading false information about sellers, and 2. being ghoulish and disrespectful about a real tragedy.
and just so you know, i was personal friends with the guy who passed away, i know the situation very well, and it is in no sense some kind of financially-forced sale. so stop salivating.
>>and just so you know, i was personal friends with the guy who passed away<<
That makes it even worse. I sure wouldn't want my friends posting about my personal business on a public forum.
just to be clear, i was relaying exactly what a broker told me. and the ha was more like an AHA i know which listing this is without having to look it up. not about the scenario at all. which is awful. tone can't be judged by text on a forum.
the broker shouldn't be blabbing this kind of info at a pretty full open house on a sunday and not expect it to be repeated.
my intent with that first post was actually to say that this isn't an example of price chopping because it is a sale of sad circumstances. i could have expressed that better but there was no ghoulish intent.
Some of you guys are sick people. Hope all this nasty karma comes back to bite you some day.
worry about your own karma UWSer Enough with the judgement.
