Discussion about
I'm thinking of looking in Tribeca for rentals. I love the area, but am not very familiar with the streets which makes it very hard to look. Preferably I'd like something near the 1/9 train or N/R train. 1br (but would LOVE a jr4). Max $2900. Any suggestions on buildings/locations to focus on? Thanks!

I'm also looking in Tribeca and have found that a lot of the so-called 'Tribeca' apartments are actually in Battery Park City or Chinatown, so I understand if you are confused. Basically you can consider all the streets north of Ground Zero, south of Canal, east of West Street and west of Broadway the real Tribeca.

Because of your price range, most of the new construction and lofts in Tribeca are too expensive. A couple of buildings that you may have luck in are 275, 295 and 303 Greenwich Streets. I've been looking in these condo buildings myself for a rental, and the corners tend to have junior 4's. Your price point seems a bit low, but you may get lucky, some of the owners may be willing to give a month's free rent, etc. But generally these are very desirable buildings because they are established condos on a pretty quiet yet convenient street. Good luck and see you out there.

Yeah, changedropper, I found that place a bit strange too. I've been looking pretty thoroughly for the last couple of weeks, and so many buildings seem to want to promote themselves as partycentral, especially those towers in the wall st area - which might be attractive if I was 23, but not my thing now. 295 Greenwich is definitely more my speed, I really hope to get in there.

Don't have time to post much but I echo the part about bpc being incorrectly labelled as tribeca.
I would also say that once you get near the NR then you are no longer in tribeca.

Bear in mind tribeca is overrun with kids (I am a tribeca parent) and you will find the good restaraunts very kid friendly at weekends and early evening (and sometimes quite late) so, if you don't like the sound of that then you may not like living here.
