Discussion about 41 University Place in Greenwich Village
It is high, in part, because there are doormen at every entrance and a relatively small number of units in each building to defray costs. I do not know the underlying financial picture. This is for the most part not a building for the financially weak of heart. It is ritzy, has many very cool and special pre-war apartments, is home to more than a few well known personalities, and is a pretty prime location. My favorite lobby is in the building with the clouds and stars on the ceiling of the entrance. Note: as nice as some layouts are, others are awkward and lack the special features of the many units that are very cool.
I didn't mean to only mention doormen: there are multiple everything due to building structure.
