Discussion about
ours went up 10% at lease renewal
Rents go up as your leases expire...I found a one bedroom, elevator bldg. for $2150.
Sales prices have been going up, too, at least the asking price. The bizarre theory is that if the place isn't selling, raise the price - & they seem to think it works. Could be the same with rents.
Vacancy rates for rentals is below 1%. Therefore, rental prices will continue to rise. Those with leases that are up either have to suck up the increases or go out and find a new place which often entails paying a broker's fee and moving expenses. Those two costs often amount to no more than the prposed 5-10% annual rent increase. That fat led us too buy last year - maybe it was a good decision and maybe it was not. I'll post again in 5 years.
Um...supply and demand?
Rents traditionally spike a little April - June in relation to the increased demand of rentals placed by college students getting out of school. Worst time of the year for renters to look for a new place.
yes they definetly have gone up
Wait, I'm confused. I thought everyone was predicting a 30-50% drop in rental prices and sales prices?
Ok, so when are salaries going to go up to match the increases???
Rents are definitely going up in my building. A 2-bed 1250 sq ft went for $6300 last month, and a similar quality 1050 2 bed is now going for the same price, from the same management company.
Rents are definately going up, just got my lease renewal and my rent is going up from 3095 to 3450.
Will higher rents help to support the real estate market in nyc?
It is funny that when apts. don't sell for months they then raise the price...only in New York...thanks to Street Easy we can find how long and at what price the apt. was on the market...THANKS STREET EASY!!!
five years ago I was lucky to get a 2% raise, but now I'm seeing some 5% annual raises. Add that with dual income...
#15, you can't flip an apt like a stock. Go with penny stocks if you're into that.
