Another product of a wholesome 5th Avenue upbringing. At least his birth certificate looks legitimate.

And his grandfather met his grandmother in the Great Depression ... but were they really greatly depressed? Or were they just hypocrites?

It didn't stop Bush from being "elected" in 2000, and Connecticut seems very tolerant with flaming hypocrites, see Lieberman.

Alanhart, I was just coming to this conclusion. The short response is how is he not? From health care to financial regulations, fiscal policies, budget, military spending, the environment, you name it, there is not one area where Lieberman has not done and said the exact opposite as his supposed previous convictions. Lieberman has got to be the fastest flip-flopper. He has, multiple times, worked against positions he had supported months earlier. Most politicians wait a year or two, or attempt to explain the evolution. He just turns his coat for a morsel of power or influence.

Good news for Peter Schiff! Lieberman is not a hypocrite. He's a pretty good guy from my vantage point.

maly- if Lieberman doesn't agree with your far left positions, he is a hypocrite? I'm not entirely familiar, so I really am asking. Where has be taken hypocritical positions? He seems conservative with foreign policy, center-left on health care and the budget. He definitely flip-flopped on some issues when he was Gore's running mate to align himself more with Gore, but not any more than most other politicians.

My criticism of Lieberman is not rooted in some (far left?) political beliefs. Lieberman is consistent only in one area, and that is support for Israel. I have to give him that, less I appear dishonest myself. On every other issue, the classic Lieberman move goes: "I support (insert anything, universal healthcare, consumer rights, balanced budget, etc)", followed by an extended hand to whomever can come up to the best answer of "what's in it for me."
He's an opportunist who is not afraid to drape his pork in a flag, your classic old-style politician. I find it humorous Republicans think of of him as a patriot because his own narrow self-interest temporarily aligned with their convictions.

Still in the news, this lying attorney general:

Integrity at Issue in Connecticut Senate Debate
By RAYMOND HERNANDEZ
The New York Times
Published: October 4, 2010

The most uncomfortable moment for Mr. Blumenthal came early when one panelist, Laurie Perez from Fox News Connecticut, asked about an issue that has dogged him on the campaign trail: his claims that he served in Vietnam, when in fact he served in the Marine Reserves during the war and never left the country.

Before answering, Mr. Blumenthal composed himself, shuffling papers on the lectern. He then acknowledged that he had misspoken several times but said he never intended to deceive anyone.

“I regret it,” he continued. “I take full responsibility for it. It was not intentional. But that is no excuse. And I want to say I am sorry, particularly to our veterans and mostly to the veterans of Vietnam.”

Ms. Perez also asked Mr. Blumenthal why he did not serve in Vietnam, but he did not answer.

The debate came after a furious back-and-forth between the campaigns Monday after Ms. McMahon released a new TV ad featuring a video clip in which Mr. Blumenthal suggested that he had served in Vietnam.

The video the McMahon campaign obtained shows Mr. Blumenthal delivering an address at a rally in Bridgeport in 2003 in which he praised the support being expressed for American troops overseas. Of Vietnam, he says, “When we returned, we saw nothing of this gratitude.”

The video of Mr. Blumenthal was part of a 30-second advertisement in which the narrator asks: “If he lied about Vietnam, what else is he lying about?”

Republicans close to the McMahon campaign said the goal was to personally shake up Mr. Blumenthal, who has significantly curtailed his public appearances after The New York Times published an article in May describing how he had misrepresented his military service over the years.

Clearly making this a tough decision for the voters of Connecticut.

According to the latest poll, Blumenthal is 11 points ahead. I guess most voters of CT care about the economy, not Vietnam.

Well if this contest is about integrity, then shouldn't we talk about Linda's bankruptcy? She talks about it as if she and Vince built their business from the ashes, but their bankruptcy was actually a personal one. Now, one would think she could brag about how after they made billions, they paid off every creditor that took a hit...but go figure...they won't talk about that. I can't help wondering about all these billionaires, and how angry they are...and how they all want to get elected to fight for lower taxes for the little guy. I mean, how stupid can we be?

CT voters care about the economy? If that were so, McMahon will win easily. Progressives don't care about the economy, they care about centralizing power into a government elite. They talk about protecting the middle class but they really don't care about promoting a strong business environment that provides jobs. It seems like they don't care about high unemployment as long as there are lots of government and union workers they can control.

Nothing is wrong with bankruptcy, as long as it isn't abused. The McMahon's whipped up a huge personal debt by living a lifestyle they couldn't afford. Then they left those who they owed with pennies on the dollar, and apparently felt no need to make them whole when they hit the jackpot. By the way, it's interesting that they made all that money by playing on people's stupidity, and that's her same gameplan for winning the election.

She needs a new game plan then.. she is behind by double digits. At this late in the game, that is devestating and a virtually impossble to recover from.

Lower taxes, less regulation, in turn less crowding out of the private sector opportunity to create jobs.

Which lower taxes will create jobs? Which regulations will need to be abolished in order to create jobs? Can you give us one example of how the private sector is crowded out?
