Hello Everyone- I am in search for a 1 bdr or 2 bdr furnished apartment starting 1st September for 3-6 months until our condo will be ready to move in. Can someone recommend a website or contact info, prefer without brokers fee?! Prefer UWS or UES and our budget is 3.000 - 4,000. Greatly appreciated.

We were just in your exact same situation - bought a new build condo, had to wait for it to be completed and get the C of O so we could move in, but sold our other place, and had to move in to a furnished rental in the interim between the two.
First off, I would say this - no matter what the builder tells you, no matter how many assurances he/she gives you - unless a MIRACLE happens, be prepared that the 3-6 time period you've been given will be longer than that. If it works out that 3-6 months IS the actual time frame for your closing and move-in, be very, VERY thankful. When we signed our purchase contract, we were told that we would be closing and moving in about 12-18 months later (give or take). It took 25 months. And you'll see from other boards on streeteasy and talking to other new build purchasers that that's the way things go with new builds in Manhattan.
As to places to stay, a furnished UES or UWS 1 bedroom for 3-4K will be very difficult. I would normally recommend either furnishedquarters.com, or the Affinia located at 155 East 50th (you can google it, I'm sure), but both are significantly more expensive. Actually, you might try furnished quarters - they might have a one bedroom in your approximate price range - I don't know. Otherwise, you're looking at straight subletting.
Agree with #2. It will take longer than you think...it happened to us. We rented in Riverdale from Glenwood Properties, it was much cheaper and spacious than furnishedquarters.com.
Go to www.craigslist.org for NYC, click on Manhattan, find "Sublets and Temporary" in the drop down box, choose your neighborhood,l put in your price range, hit "search".
We kept ourselves going for 18 months this way without a hassle. We always rented from owners. Every attempt with a realtor, agency or agent was unsatisfactory.
God luck.
