Discussion about
1. I need to cap two dead wires, one in Clinton Hill, and the other in midtown west. 2. I also want to install two ceiling light fixtures by digging one inch trenches in cement ceilings. 3. my contractor will dig the trenches and plaster them over. 4. I would appreciate referrals to inexpensive electricians and cost estimates as well. Thank you for the help.
If they have to be licensed mine usually charges 250 a point. Not the cheapest but good. The contractor doesn't have one?
How are you going to cap a wire between Clinton Hill and midtown west? That's quite a stretch!
You don't need an electrician, you need a miracle worker!
(LOL)
Primer04:
1. what do you mean by $250/point
2. I need to run my wiring from a floor outlet to a newly installed ceiling outlet
3. and to simplly cut and cap one wire in each locatiom
needsadvice:
I plan to hire a diver to cap the line in the center of the
East River using government stimulus funds.
That would be a much more useful and cost-effective use of
federal funds than most of the projects the Obummer admis-
tration has invested in,such as extending Socialist's unem-
ployment benefits by another 600 months.
rb - I don't know if they cover bkln, but I use Vilanova Electric for Manhattan. Very reasonable, fully licensed/insured and efficient. Ask for Joe or Louis at 212-247-3050 or 917-843-4044. They will come to you and give you an estimate. Tell them Vincent from City Connections Realty gave you the number. Good Luck.

Thank you. Will call.
Some electricians charge by "point" running the floor outlet to the ceiling outlet would be a point, so that would be $250.00, I would think they wouldnt charge for the cut and cap of one wire
Primer05:
1. if I understand you correctly my two light fixtures should cost $250x2 + nominal capping me
2. if that is correct please post name and # of your electrician
3. also, is a city permit needed for the job
4. the apt is a Coop but it hasnt objected on safety grounds
5. and its approval isnt needed because apt is a sponsor Unsold Share
6. since you're a contractor, when you work in sponsor or unsold share coops, review or have
your attorney review proprietary lease paragraph 21(a)(b) ... it generally provides that
holders of Unsold Shares dont need Coop approval for alterations and repairs ... makes
doing work a lot cheaper since you dont need architectural or engineer submissions, post-
work sign-offs, application fees, or licenses and insurance for all workers
I'm surprised your coop allows channeling of the concrete ceiling ... many don't.
Alan:
If you've been diligent in collecting and saving embarassing photographic evidence
Coop boards will approve almost anything.
1. Yes, unless you need switches, is it going off existing?
2. Control Spec: Kenny 718-784-9145
3. You will have to ask electrician
4,5,6. I am not sure. I have never had a client in that position.
Thank you Primer05 and vslse65.
No problem...and if you can't find an electrician for BK, post again. I'm sure I have a # in my rolodex somewhere for a BK electrician.
Hi,
I understand that you don't need Coop approval and still I believe that all work as defined by Dept of Building, in this case, the NYC electrical Code, needs to be compliant with there code.
I may be wrong however when "the electrical code was enacted to establish standards to protect both the property and the public in the city of NYC" I didn't see any exceptions to this code ie holders of Unsold shares. I would be curious if there was.
Please see the first paragraph of the link below - very rigorous - I know......" changing a light bulb isn't considered electrical work, but changing the light switch or fixture is"
http://www.nyc.gov/html/dob/downloads/pdf/elecbroch.pdf
ps I like your link as I will also be needing a good and reasonable electrician down the track - they are like gold.
I used Leader Electrician recently and got them from an old thread where Alanhart recommended them.
(thank you Ahart)
They charge strictly by the hour regardless of the work. I found them to be very professional and they know what they're doing.
I don't remember the exact amount, I want to say $179 the first hour and $80 each additional for labor,
something in that neighborhood.
vslse65:
Called you guys yeaterday but they never called back.
Got aomwone else since then.
rb - I'm sorry to hear that. Sometimes they do get backlogged due to the # of buildings they cover. I'm glad you found someone though. If they do call back, tell them they dropped the ball - like the Knicks. :(
