Discussion about 211 Thompson Street in Greenwich Village
This is a great building centrally located just below Washing Square Park. Lots of great shopping and restaurants. The units have very unique layouts with many being multi level. The east side penthouse units have 17 fee ceilings, balconies, skylights and tons of natural daylight in addition to park views to the North and WTC views to the South.

So are you going to buy one?
No it sounds like he is selling one
Someone here is insane. The units are small jail cells. Yes, tall ceilings, but the rest is ridiculous. You basically walk into the bathroom (the tackiest thing I have ever seen), then into a large kitchen, and step down into a tiny, tall-ceilinged cell. The "balcony" is a half-moon, the other half belonging to the unit next door. If you were to have a problem with this unit, they could step right into your unit. These are the most ridiculous examples of "New York Real Estate" I have ever seen.
P.S. Travelcat: You are nuts.
Re: the balconies, at one time the Multiple Dwelling Law or Fire Code or something mandated them if the means of egress to the fire stairs didn't meet certain conditions. They're also on 184 Thompson, on a building down on lower 7th or 8th avenue, and I think I've seen them elsewhere too. All are low-rise buildings, the kind that used to be called "semi-fireproof."
E.g. 170 W 23rd: http://streeteasy.com/building/the-chelsea-7th-condominium/4w
That one (23rd street) has a lot of space -- unlike the Thompson unit. Isn't the 23rd address the one with a land lease problem which will come up soon? I seem to remember that's why the units seem so reasonably priced. Anyone know??
The land-lease co-op is 101 W 23rd. 170 is a condo, and owns its land.
211 Thompson has gone through an extensive lobby and corridor renovation (2018). All new finishes including a new storefront and vestibule, new intercom, new stone desk, all new finishes including wood panels walls, blackened steel, peached mirror and architectural and decorative lighting.
Didn't they just renovate that lobby like 10 years ago?
Regarding the units, all you have to know is "Thurcon".
A Yelp review from May of this year claimed "the building has no gas."
Can you address that?
The building gas lines and routing were updated in 2018. The building has gas.
