Discussion about 376 Broadway in Tribeca
Can this building get any worse? There is a homeless shelter right around the corner of the building, no wonder they seem to never able to get rid of the bedbug problem. Every month there is a new report of unit infested with bedbug. And don't get me start with the stinky smell in the hallway. Trash chute doors are sticky that you don't want to touch, and Chinese people cook with their doors open to let the smell out. Noise, 24x7 from Broadway and a few construction sites around. Homeless people are permanently hanging out by the yard and defecate in the alley. My Lease is up in 6 months but Cannot wait to leave.

Wow, Sean007, you seem to gravitate toward sleazy trash holes. Maybe you should work on cleaning up your act?????

Homeless shelter? That's the least of your worries when you have Bernard B. Kerik's complex just a couple blocks away.

I was reading the two threads about bedbugs in the building. We actually don't have bedbugs on our floor. Although we do have cockroaches, they don't bother me as much.

What bothers me most is the loud noise. We live on a high floor (20th+), but noises from Bway bounce between highrises and travel upwards. It used to be quieter in weekends, because few trucks and buses. Ever since the Harley Davidson store opened on the ground floor in May, weekends have become the worst. There are Hells Angels people hanging out in front of the building, making loud noise from their bikes till very late in the night. What the hell was the management thinking when it allowed a Harley store to open in a residential buidling????

We work close by and have been in the building for over 4 years. But we are moving out as soon as lease ends. The HD store really spoiled everything for building residents.

This building is a $hithole.

I consider myself a low maintenance person. We don't have bedbugs in our apartment, and cockroaches in the hallway and kitchen don't really bother me at all.

But I am fed up with the 24x7 noise here. I actually live pretty high up (20+ floor), but loud noises from bus stop downstaris, trash trucks passing by, construction sites from around the corner just bounce off the buildings on Broadway and travel upward. I can not open my windows in the summer. It used to be slightly better in the weekends, until a Harley Davidson store opened in the ground floor. There are Hell's Angel people hanging out in front of the building, stepping on the peddle and spewing out loud noise. Every weekend is like Dykes on the Bikes parade. My GOD, what was the management thinking when they allowed a bike store in a residential building.

I am breaking my lease and moving out. Anyone who is considering renting in the building, bring a noise meter when you visit.

Anyone have updated comments on this building? Noise, pests? Overall experience? I'm looking at a unit.

This response is dated August 20, 2018:

I live on a high floor ( above 15) and here’s an update on the noise level: yes, there is a Hardly Davidson right downstairs and when they first opened about 5-6 years ago, there were bikes outside on the public plaza, they would have motorcycle meet-ups, and make lots of noise. However, a few tenants worked together to make sure that the public space was officially recognized as a public area by the city (POPP) for people to congregate ( It’s a considered a public/private park that is open to the public) so that Harley Davidson could no longer park their bikes outside. Tenants “won” and got permission to post signs about the public space being opened to the public. Ever since this happened, there is no longer loud motorcycles outside of the building and their main “showroom” has been moved to another location. Motorcycle sound has not been a problem ever since.

My apartment faces White Street so I don’t hear the traffic on broadway and it’s relatively quiet from my apartment. I’m also on a high floor ( above 15). I have not had any bed bugs in my apt EVER and I have lived here over 10 years. There are exterminating services offered once a month if tenants need it. About 6-8 years ago, I was told there was a bed bug issue on lower floors and management had an exterminator walked throughout the building and each apartment with a trained beagle dog to see if the problem was contained. That is the last I have heard of bed bugs in the building. The current super and cleaning staff also seem more attentive to cleaning common areas now.

My floor is extremely clean. Most of my neighbors are owners so there seems to be “extra” care taken of the common hallways and garbage area. In all my years here, I have never seen roaches in the garbage room. This also depends on the floor however. When the elevator opens on certain floors ( for me, it is the lower levels) , sometimes there are strong smell or you can detect that there is a smoker on the floor. But this is not the case with all floors. I would suggest when one is looking at a unit, pay attention to the hallways/common areas.

Feel free to respond if you have any more questions about the building.

I've owned for almost 4 years. i find the building to be meticulously clean and while there's noise on Broadway (it is NYC folks) on the back side or white street side rather quiet. As an owner, i'm pleased with low common charges and location. New buildings going up on Broadway asking so much more so there's value in this building.

"Bedbug, stinky hallway, noise, homeless people" --> love the title of this thread, as it can apply to any building an any neighborhood. Bedbugs are a risk everywhere. Odorous hallways are caused by neighbors, rich or poor. Noise - everywhere. Homeless people - everywhere!

What causes bedbugs exactly?

I just don't get it. I understand they're easy to transmit. But what's the original cause. Where do they come from?
