Discussion about Trump Tower at 721 Fifth Avenue in Midtown
Hey comrades. Why are people selling in this building? It is best building since the Hermitage. I know it would be convenient for my meetings.
They're selling either because their politics don't fit Trump's after this fraught election, or because the building has become a public target.
The Putin-baroque style is a tough sell in New York.
There are NO FIRE SPRINKLERS on the residential floors. Why would anyone want to risk their lives to live here?

The Times made a pretty amusing conjunction of background info and a comment from a fire commissioner. I would think the FD would consider this not well built:
The commissioner said the upper floors that are home to residences do not have fire sprinklers. “It’s a well-built building,” he said. “The building sure stood up quite well.”
What is he going to say? "The building is built to code but code in New York City puts people's lives in danger"?
There's some units in this building that have been on the market for a while because the owners got really greedy. I'm sure the Trump name helps the building, but politics aside, this building was known for skimping out on build quality yet I'm seeing 1 bedrooms listed at over 4 million and a 2 bedroom asking 6.5M that they've since brought down over 2 million dollars in price! This building is in a good location and it's got some nice amenities, but the luxury condo market is crowded with newer better build buildings that also don't have security perimeters to deal with.

too expensive
This is a nice backgrounder on the building (warning, I'm quoted)

Trump admitted that the original kitchens and baths were builder crap that were intended to be replaced by purchasers. He said something along the lines of "I love a nice black marble bathroom, but I'm not going to build a whole building with all black marble bathrooms." And back in 1983 no developer was putting in anywhere near the type of finishes you are seeing today.
nice building, biggest con is there are always people protesting outside day and night, how can they make a live?
Maybe they will go back to basic kitchen and bath to save $.
