Discussion about
Looked at a building that buys its steam from ConEd and doesn’t have a boiler. Is that good for bad for temperature control and more importantly cost? Also, building buys electrical in bulk - should be a cost benefit, correct?

Quite the variety of heating systems on that block. 23 Gramercy Park South drilled some 1500 feet deep for geothermal a few years ago.

We've outsourced our pollution to ConEd. (I.e., we get our heat from ConEd steam -- 30+ stories, 200+ units). Works just fine, and the central heating and tap water are plenty hot. We are at the mercy of their repair/construction schedule, and there is the occasional "there will be no hot water from 10pm to 6am because of ConEd work on the street nearby", but it hasn't been a significant problem.

And, we don't have to deal with the changing regulations about what type of fuel oil must be used.
