Discussion about
What is a better buy? A pre-war or a post-war ( 20-30yr old) or a new condo?

It depends on the unit. Your question is way to vague!

Mostly, it depends upon taste. If there is one lesson people should have learned from the great real estate bubble, it's that people need to think of their primary residence as a home, not just an investment (although obviously important to be aware of patterns/bubbles/trends in the real estate market as you never know when you might have to sell- so you can't be oblivous to this either).

I am pre-war gal personally, although the ideal home to me modernizes a prewar bit (opens up light/space) without turning a place into a loft. I generally am of the opinion that buying new construction is like buying a new car; it's no longer "new" right after you buy it and usually not as timeless. But there is some new construction that I like, although what new construction I like is primarily conversions.
