Rent-to-own is deeply, inherently flawed. It assumes that the asking price is close enough to what the eventual buyer would be willing to pay that the applied rent is an enticing savings. If the rent is $3k/mo. and the apartment is overpriced by $200k (and it's obviously overpriced if it's not selling), who cares about an $18k discount off ask? It's ridiculous.
