Some people dream of fame, fortune, or eternal youth and good looks. New Yorkers dream of real estate. But who says you can’t have it all? These 19 celebrities are young, rich, famous — and they possess some killer NYC real estate. Some of them own, some rent, and some are in transition, but all have been able to dwell in amazing apartments. Check out their stunning places below.
Taylor Swift Is the Queen of Taybeca
Taylor Swift made a splash when she moved to Manhattan in 2014 at the age of 24, quickly snapping up two adjacent Tribeca penthouses that she renovated and morphed into one killer pad. Since then she’s been named the Global Welcome Ambassador of the city, and purchased nearly $50 million worth of real estate in the neighborhood.
Bella Hadid and The Weeknd Are Also on the Tribeca Bandwagon …
Taylor Swift isn’t the only singer spending her days in Tribeca. The 28-year old R&B artist The Weeknd and his 22-year old girlfriend, Bella Hadid, recently moved into the celebrity-packed 443 Greenwich St. The couple has joined the ranks of other A-list residents past and present, including Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Meg Ryan, and Justin Timberlake.
… As Is Harry Styles …
In celebration of his first solo album, Harry Styles, the 24-year old former star of One Direction, purchased an $8.7 million pad at 443 Greenwich St.— the same address where the Weeknd and Bella Hadid have shacked up. Styles’ apartment has 3 bedrooms and beautiful windows to usher in natural light, and the building has amazing amenities, including a 5,000-square-foot roof deck and a 71-foot indoor pool.
… But Jennifer Lawrence Decamped for a UES Penthouse
Jennifer Lawrence, 28, also once resided at Tribeca’s vertical version of Beverly Hills, but the Oscar-winning star is rumored to have left 443 Greenwich St. for greener pastures — namely, a penthouse near First Avenue in Lenox Hill. According to a local source, the celeb has been living there there for several months. The apartment is said to have panoramic views, a private elevator, and walk-in closet larger than most apartments. Maybe someday she’ll have us over for takeout and the “Real Housewives of New York”?
Lena Dunham Owns in Williamsburg But Left for the West Village
At the age of 32, Lena Dunham, the writer, director and star of “Girls,” has decided she over the ‘Burg and is moving back to downtown Manhattan, where she grew up. Dunham has listed her 3-bedroom, 1,987-square-foot condo at 60 Broadway in the former Gretsch musical instrument factory for $3 million. Although the location of her new place has not been disclosed, Dunham says she has moved back to the West Village to be “amongst my tribe, which is, like, old people puttering around the health-food store.”
Zosia Mamet Traded a House in Bushwick for a UWS Co-op
Like her character in Girls, Zosia Mamet left Brooklyn for the more sophisticated environs of Manhattan. After flipping a house in Bushwick, the actress, then 27, bought a co-op on the Upper West Side for $1.225 million. Three years later, she’s renting it out for $5,000 per month.
Tavi Gevinson Moved From Manhattan to Brooklyn Luxury
Tavi Gevinson is no newcomer to celebrity, but she is a newcomer to Brooklyn. Years after catching the eye of Anna Wintour as a teen style blogger, Gevinson, now 22, made the move to Brooklyn. Her new pad at 300 Ashland gives her more space to entertain and work from home than her previous spot in the West Village did. For the full scoop on the space, check out StreetEasy’s interview with the actress and writer.
Jemima Kirke Cozied Up in a Carroll Gardens Brownstone
Jemima Kirke, who played herself, er Jess, on “Girls,” has been cozy with Brooklyn since her high school years, when she could be caught lounging with friends on the stoops near Saint Ann’s School on Pierrepont Street. In 2013, at the age of 28, she purchased a Carroll Gardens brownstone for $2,036,500 and decorated it with the help of her rock-matron mom. The home was put on the market earlier this year, but there are no reports as to where she’s headed next.
Gigi Hadid Turned 21 and Bought a Bond Street Condo
Most people celebrate their twenty-first trip around the sun with a boozy night out on the town; Gigi Hadid marked hers by purchasing a Nolita pad for $3,971,175. Although it might make sense for a jet-setting supermodel to rent instead of own, Hadid’s dad is a Jordanian-American real estate developer, so real estate investing is in her bones.
Daniel Radcliffe Has Condos in the West Village and SoHo
Daniel Radcliffe, 29, has left Hogwarts behind and is now a fixture on Broadway — he’s currently starring in “The Lifespan of a Fact.” With eight shows a week at the Studio 54 theater on West 54th Street, a convenient Manhattan location must be key, but who wants to live in Midtown? Instead, Radcliffe has two downtown properties: a 2,450-square-foot 3-bedroom at 1 Morton Square and another fifth-floor condo at Jean Nouvel’s 40 Mercer St.
Rihanna Dropped $50K Per Month for a PH Near Canal Street
While it’s clear from the nightlife shots of Rihanna that she’s still partying in the city, it’s not certain where she’s actually living. Last we heard, the 30-year-old singer peaced out of her 4-bedroom duplex penthouse on Lafayette and Howard Streets, leaving this celeb-dense nexus of SoHo, Chinatown, and Little Italy a little less fierce. While Riri had rented the penthouse for $50,000 per month, anyone looking to fill her spot will have to cough up $17 million to buy it.
Kristen Stewart Bought a $5.64M Loft in NoHo
From teen movie star to the face of Chanel, Kristen Stewart has certainly kept busy over the past decade. In keeping with her edgy, hard-to-pin-down exterior, the 28-year old star has put down roots in Lower Manhattan — but not in the expected way. In the fall of 2017, she paid $5.64 million for an artist’s loft in NoHo that needs a lot of renovation. It’s a blank canvas Stewart can make entirely her own.
Ariana Grande Kept the Condo on the High Line, Lost the BF on SNL
Ariana Grande, 25, recently called off her engagement with SNL star Pete Davidson, also 25, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she’s bidding farewell to the Chelsea apartment the two canoodled in earlier this year. The spectacular Zaha Hadid building borders the High Line; her unit spans 4,023 square feet, with 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. With Sting as a neighbor, Grande’s bold choice of building promotes the pint-size star to real estate royalty.
Karlie Kloss’ First NYC Apartment Was a Stunning West Village Co-op
Supermodel Karlie Kloss purchased a 2-bedroom co-op in the West Village for $2 million back in 2012. At the time, she was 20 years old. Since then, she has strutted down countless runways, launched Kode with Klossy, become the new host of “Project Runway,” and gotten married to Josh Kushner (yes, Jared’s brother). Now that she has settled into domestic life, we wonder if she and Joshy won’t size up for a larger space.
Hannah Bronfman Restyled and Resold an East Village Pad
Fitness guru, fashionista, DJ, and heir to billions Hannah Bronfman has spent the past few months hotel-hopping after selling her customized East Village home for $2.65 million in July 2018. No confirmation yet as to where she and her husband, also a DJ, have settled.
The Olsen Twins Hold an Empire on the East Side
While Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have worked together since they were in diapers, the 32-year-old twins have pretty different styles. Mary-Kate and her husband, Olivier Sarkozy, moved into a $13.5 million townhouse in Turtle Bay back in 2014. The building has an old-world elegance, with French poetry painted on the ceilings. Meanwhile, Ashley’s place is more modern, and is located in an East Village luxury apartment building.
